Happy new year everyone! After the disruptions of COVID and a short hiatus to accommodate some long-term planning, we are pleased to be relaunching our regular WACNJ programming and turning the page on 2022. Our first monthly newsletter of 2023 contains lots of information about upcoming WACNJ programs and other news. Please read on!

Last chance to register for our 3rd Annual Top Risks program, which is taking place this Thursday at 6:30 pm. It should be a fun and engaging conversation between Alex Kazan of Eurasia Group and myself about what might lie ahead in 2023. This is a hybrid event with the in-person component at Seton Hall University.

Join us for a talk with Shannon O’Neil, Vice President, Deputy Director of Studies, and Nelson and David Rockefeller Senior Fellow for Latin America Studies, as she discusses her recently released book The Globalization Myth. In it, she challenges the conventional wisdom about globalization. arguing that even as more companies, money, ideas, and people went abroad, they stayed closer to home than many appreciate. This is a hybrid event with an online component too.

A fun and engaging online event to test your knowledge of world affairs. We are requesting a $25 donation for each team that participates. Details to come.

SAT, March 18 | 3:00 to 8:00 PM

Our 3rd Annual Local Competition will draw high school teams from across the region. We be welcoming our largest group of team to date and hope to continue building this program in the future. More information can found be on our AWQ pages.

We are working on a panel discussion to mark the 20th anniversary of the start of the Iraq War. Stay tuned for more details on that event.

 

We are also busy planning several other spring events, including a conversation about the global economic trends, a member-only event aimed at building community ties, and an environmentally focused program. We will announce more details soon.

We are recruiting for a summer intern. If you know an undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in international relations and nonprofit management, please direct them to our Internships page.

Our Board of Trustees is expanding this year. If you know someone (including yourself) with a passion for global affairs and a desire to advance public understanding of these issues, we would love to hear from you. Please write to wacnj2019@gmail.

We will be rolling out a new sponsorship program this summer for our 2023/24 programming season. This is an excellent opportunity to work with us on an event of interest to your organization or to provide sustaining support for our entire programming season.
