Review of fall internship applications will begin on August 15 and continue until we have finalized our hiring for the fall. Starting date is negotiable.

The WACNJ is seeking three college interns for the Fall 2019 semester. Interns will contribute to our mission in meaningful and measurable ways and gain valuable professional experience. Interns will be assigned recurring duties and specific projects across three main functional areas. Although we hope to offer stipends in the future, we are not able to offer any financial compensation at the current time.

  • Program support may include researching ideas for new programs; working with speakers and panelists; coordinating and facilitating event logistics; promoting and publicizing programs; and developing programming strategies to grow the organization.

  • Nonprofit management support may include building event budgets; maintaining contacts databases; assisting with fundraising appeals and general financial management; researching nonprofit best practices; and assessing the technologies best suited to advancing our mission.

  • Communications support may include drafting copy for our website, social media accounts, and event materials; ensuring high-quality graphics across all platforms; developing media materials and monitoring external press; and developing responses to emerging issues.

What we are looking for:

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students with a strong personal connection to New Jersey. (Students enrolled in college outside NJ will be considered for roles that can be performed remotely.)

  • Passion for international affairs, community education, or nonprofit management as demonstrated through academic major and/or extracurricular activities.

  • Practical experience with Microsoft Office. Excellent communication skills. Website management and social media savvy.

  • A minimum three-month commitment of 8 hours each week. Must be available for a minimum of four hours on Fridays and up to three public events (dates TBD).
